The Cannery Public Market

Category: Merchant Spotlight

Since 1946, the Pagel family has been producing high quality milk at their Kewaunee farm, Pagel’s Ponderosa Dairy, LLC. The late visionary who grew up and raised a family on the farm, John T. Pagel wanted to “bring the farm to the city”; providing Green Bay with a farm-to-fork dining experience. It was from this passion for family and farm fresh food that The Cannery was born.

The Larsen Canning Company occupied the building that The Cannery (hence the name) now resides. This brings the connection full circle, as the Pagel family used to bring corn and beans to the canning company from their farm. Just as his family did years ago, John saw the opportunity to provide Green Bay diners with farm fresh food. The Brodaway District’s rich agriculture history coupled with it’s trendiness made it the perfect place for The Cannery to call home.

In late January 2019, The Cannery is launching the Farmer’s Table, a private dining space designed to facilitate togetherness and being present with one another. The room is available for menu dining, meetings (with AV hookup) and special gatherings. Besides ordering off menu, guests will be able to choose from an experience-focused menu or consult with The Cannery events team to create a menu unique to them.
