Join us in celebration of local author Shiloh Briar’s debut release! She’ll be joined by Amanda Linsmeier to share Hopeless Necromantic, a delightfully quirky romantasy so good it just might raise the dead.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Necromantasy is the new romantasy in Hopeless Necromantic, a debut romantic fantasy for fans of Gideon the Ninth,The Irresistible Urge to Fall for your Enemy, Long Live Evil or Assistant to the Villain.

SHE RAISES HELL. HE RAISES THE DEAD. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?

When new recruit Helspira takes on the doomed mission that no other soldier wants, life—and death—start to get a little complicated. Helspira must play escort to Sikras—a frustratingly handsome necromancer with the power to raise the dead—as he attempts a mission that he's failed twice before; stopping an undead army at the edges of the kingdom.

No one thinks he will succeed. Not even Sikras. But the more time the two spend together, the more they find they can imagine a brighter future. As secrets come out and the two grow closer—and Sikras's lively skeleton companion Benjamin tries desperately not to be a third wheel—will Sikras' and Helspira's changing feelings for each other be enough to overcome the growing danger?

RAISE A GLASS. RAISE THE DEAD. JUST DON'T RAISE YOUR HOPES.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Ancient lore dictates that Shiloh Briar was born unto a benevolent nature spirit beneath the skies of a lunar eclipse. The trouble with ancient lore, however, is that it is often poorly documented and embellished beyond believability.

Modern lore says that Shiloh hails from Wisconsin: land of cheese, football, and beer, which is significantly less exciting than the ancient lore version. Monotonous backstory aside, Shiloh insists Wisconsin is still home, and she couldn't imagine putting down roots anywhere else.Shiloh has been fascinated with writing and creating worlds at a young age and enjoys chronicling the adventures of characters she's "known" since childhood.

WITH SPECIAL GUEST AMANDA LINSMEIER

Amanda Linsmeier has been a book nerd as long as she can remember, and it was that great love of reading—especially R.L. Stine novels and fairytales—that eventually brought her to writing her own stories. In high school, she won the senior class vote for “Most Romantic Girl,” a title she’s still ridiculously pleased with. She feels most joyful when writing, scream-singing her favorite songs, playing in the water, and laughing with her beloved family. She lives in a magical place with a man who smells like maple syrup and woodsmoke, their wonderfully wild children, a dog, and an assortment of half-feral cats. Amanda is the author of Starlings, Six of Sorrow, and the forthcoming New Adult gothic fairytale, A Dance with Death, on sale January 2026.
