Calling all writers!
Join local author J. Mercer for a writing workshop where you’ll be guided through prompts related to character, setting, and plot. This is helpful in the planning stages of a new project or for clarifying intent as you dive into revisions!
As a pantser, you’ll leave inspired, with a handful of ideas to pluck from and a general mood to infuse on the page, both of which will help bolster you when sitting down to write your characters to life.
As a plotter, you’ll leave with a renewed understanding of how your characters, setting, and plot interact and inform each other inside your story, along with a list of scenes linked by cause and effect to help propel you through getting those words on the page.
If time allows, we’ll also touch on point of view, style, and theme.
About the Author
J. Mercer (who you might know as Joanna Mercier) grew up in the Green Bay area where she walked home from school with her head in a book, filled notebooks with stories in junior high, then went to college for accounting and psychology only to open a dog daycare. She now writes women’s fiction and young adult novels, freelance edits, and talks revision on The Novel Ending podcast.
Her young adult novels have received multiple awards, and Shady Woods rated a perfect ten from the BookLife Prize, an indie arm of Publisher's Weekly.
She wishes she were an expert linguist and enjoys exploring with her husband and two daughters. For updates, news, and what she’s reading, you can find her on Facebook and Instagram @jmercerbooks, as well as online at www.jmercerbooks.com.
