Join us for an evening with acclaimed Midwest novelist Peter Geye as he shares his newest work, A Lesser Light—a moving, atmospheric story set on the rocky shores of Lake Superior. Geye’s latest novel explores the tension between fate and self-determination, asking: is the future something we’re handed, or something we shape?

About the Book
In 1910, Willa Sauer arrives at a remote lighthouse on Lake Superior, trapped in an arranged marriage with the prideful keeper, Theodulf. As their relationship grows strained, Willa finds solace in the stars and the approaching Halley’s Comet—until unexpected visitors stir a glimmer of hope.

Set against a brooding and beautiful landscape, A Lesser Light is a story about industry and calamity, science versus superstition, inner desire countered with societal expectations—and the consequences when these forces collide in the wilderness of rapid social change.
