Mark Steuer is a Milwaukee native and UW-Madison graduate who served as the City of Green Bay/Brown County GIS-Cartographer and Planning Specialist from 1981-2005. Mark also worked with special needs citizens for Aspiroinc.org from 2008-2018. Since 2012, Mark has also served as the Green Bay City Alderperson for District 10 in Green Bay, serving as President (2018-2020) and Vice- President (2014-2018).
Steuer is a published author with numerous articles in the highly acclaimed Voyageur: Northeast Wisconsin’s Historical Review; a published poet in Poetry Magazine; and a published artist for a decade with the now defunct Weatherfriend Calendar for WLUK in Green Bay. Mark is working on publishing a poetry anthology entitled “Musings of the Meandering Mapmaker” as well as a screenplay dealing with Vince Lombardi and Buddy Holly entitled “Passing Comets”.
Avocation-wise, Steuer has been involved with the non-profit Strike A Chord, Inc. since 2014, which is now seeking to build a bricks and mortar Music Hall of Fame for Green Bay and northeast Wisconsin with tentative plans still unfolding. Mark was also the lead promoter for the highly successful Winter Dance Party concerts at Green Bay’s historic Riverside Ballroom from 1999-2015, featuring the music and history of Buddy Holly and other musicians. Steuer has also serve as a past president for both the Brown County Historical Society and the Brown County Trust for Historic Preservation.
Mark also worked for Fox Sports as a statistician and research assistant for Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers games from 1994-2008 and had a featured extra role as a Chicago detective in the Hollywood movie, Public Enemies, starring Johnny Depp as John Dillinger. Mark possesses a deep love for history, social studies, historic cartography, poetry, writing, teaching, all things Wisconsin, politics and all things musical, among others.
Mark was also chosen as “One of the 100 Most Interesting People in Brown County for the 20th Century” in a Green Bay Press Gazette 1999 poll and article. Mark is married to Martha and is father to Ian and Emily.
