Artist Statement:
I’ve always loved finding art in unexpected places, and electrical boxes are such a great example of that—gray, utilitarian, unassuming… they’re the perfect canvas for adding a pop of color to a neighborhood. So I was very excited to be asked by Downtown Green Bay, Inc., to create a series of illustrations and bring some life to this set of boxes. I wanted them to be a celebration of many of the things I love about downtown, both big and small: the riverwalks, the old buildings, the farmer’s market, the sidewalk trees adorned with lights, and, of course, the wildlife! With officials and residents teaming up to make environmental restoration a priority in recent decades, urban wildlife has flourished throughout the county and added much to the charm of downtown Green Bay.
