Whether you plan to participate in this year’s National Novel Writing Month, have a different project in the works, or are looking to begin your journey as a writer, join us for this celebration of writing! Listen to speakers, take part in writing activities, and enjoy some quiet time to write or network. All are welcome to drop in for part of the event or to stay all day.

10:15am - Nurturing your Novel from Birth to Maturity
NaNoWriMo is a thrilling blitz, but how do you keep working on your novel for the next 11 months, or longer? Professor and writer Rebecca Meacham talks motivation, inspiration, and sustaining interest in your novel from its noisy birth, through its ugly adolescence, and into (ideally) maturity.
Rebecca Meacham is the author of two award-winning fiction collections. Professor of writing and literature at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, she is also the founder of The Teaching Press, and the Director of the BFA in Writing and Applied Arts. Read more at rebeccameachamwriter.com

12:45pm - Creative Exercises to Prepare for NaNoWriMo
Writing a full-length novel in only a month might seem overwhelming, but with a little bit of preparation, you’ll be well on your way! In this workshop, writer Julialicia Case will lead participants through worldbuilding, character development, and scene creation exercises that will help you build a strong foundation for writing your speediest novel.
Julialicia Case is an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where she teaches courses in fiction, creative nonfiction, game writing, and literature, with a particular emphasis in fantasy and science fiction. You can learn more about her work at julialiciacase.com
