Peace Tree Lighting & CityDeck Holiday Light Cermonies

Join us as we light the evergreen tree outside the Brown County Courthouse! Gather to hear community leaders and children share their thoughts on peace to  kick off the holiday season! This annual tradition began when the Peace Tree was planted by People for People in 1968 in response to the Vietnam War and a need for peace.

Begin the evening at the Brown County Courthouse where Howe Elementary School 5th graders will join the Mayor and members of People for People for a brief ceremony that will include music, some inspirational thoughts for a peaceful holiday season, and the lighting of the large evergreen tree on the courthouse grounds. Then, head to the Daily Buzz Coffee Shop for a free cup of hot cocoa on your way to the short ceremony where we will show off the brand new, brightly lit holiday lights display. There will be a short ceremony at approximately 6:45 p.m. where we invite you to enjoy holiday music, picturesque photo-ops, and family fun at the debut of downtown's holiday lights!
